Chronic Illness Research Center

Budget Reductions and CIRC

I am very sad to announce that funding for the Chronic Illness Research Center, formerly the Cancer Prevention & Research Center, has been suspended indefinitely effective August 31, 2009. Washington State University is receiving unprecedented cuts to their permanent budget. To proactively protect academic programs and as many faculty and staff positions as possible, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, our administrative unit, with the approval of the Provost suspended the budget for the Center in January, 2009.

Our members can take pride in their collective accomplishments, and we thank them for their support over the past years, which lead to the 5-year re-accreditation of the Chronic Illness Research Center on January 23, 2009 by the Faculty Senate through the Research and Arts committee. It has been our pleasure to serve you. Gary Meadows, Director
