Frequently Asked Questions for Members
Q: How much help can I really get with my proposal?
A: The CPRC is equipped to help with the proposal from development and preparation to submission and management. We recognize that your time is precious and that by helping you with the regulatory, procedural issues that research has today, you can focus more on the research and publishing.
Q: What about IRB issues?
A: With the nature of research changing and expanding, the CPRC can help navigate the process of securing appropriate IRB approval. We can prepare the application for you, track it through the review process and help you help any member who is putting forth a proposal through the CPRC, to develop and secure approval from the appropriate IRB.
Q: Will you submit my grant for me?
A: We will transmit your final approved proposal to the Office of Grant and Research Development for submission on behalf of the University. When you schedule to use the proposal development service, we will help you develop a timeline to ensure that your proposal receives a full review by OGRD and is transmitted on time to the agency.
Q: What about seed monies?
A: The CPRC does provide some seed monies to members on a limited basis. These funds are primarily used to help the member gather enough data to prepare a proposal to be submitted through the CPRC. Seed monies may also include time-buy-outs for faculty who wish to work on large scale, collaborative projects.
Q: What is “Online Proposal Development?”
A: Online proposal development is an approach and a tool that the CPRC has developed and implemented for its members. It allows members from different departments, colleges and institutions to work collaboratively in a secure online environment. This tool is virtually email free, and includes a place to store documents, hold discussions, record decisions, and keep contact data all in one place. It also allows users with different computer platforms (PC, MAC) to work together seamlessly.
Q: What is the “Online Data Collection”
A: To assist members who are working collaboratively with colleagues in different locations, the CPRC has developed a customizable means for data collections. We can build you a simple collection system that is used online and the raw data can then be retrieved and imported into one of many different data analysis programs (Minitab, excel, SPSS etc)
